Simon's Work Displayed at Berlin Art Fair
In October, Yarger|Strauss Contemporary exhibited Don's work in Berlin, Germany
at Verge - The Bridge Art Fair. Taking place concurrent with the prestigious Art
Forum Berlin, Bridge took over an entire apartment complex and courtyard, using
every available space in the 19-unit, 3-story OTA Berlin as temporary gallery
space.

Simon Awarded Fellowship to Vermont Residency
In September, Don was in Vermont for a 4-week residency at the Vermont Studio
Center. Located near Stowe in scenic Johnson, VT, VSC is a respected program
that provides room, board, studio space, and valuable interaction with the 50
artists and writers from around the world that stay there each month. Don was
one of 15 artists awarded the additional honor of a full fellowship.

Simon Awarded NJ State Fellowship
Don was one of 30 artists to receive a 2008 New Jersey State Council on the Arts
Fellowship. The awards were announced at the February Arts Council meeting in
Red Bank, NJ. The grantees were selected from an applicant pool of 350 artists
in the categories of Choreography, Composition, Media, Painting, and Works on
Paper. Don was one of 10 artists selected in the latter category.

Simon Signs With LA Gallery
Don has signed with YARGER | STRAUSS Contemporary in Beverly Hills to be his west
coast representation. Last December, YARGER | STRAUSS took Don's work to the
Bridge Art Fair in Miami during ArtBasel, and also to the LA ArtFair this
January where they sold his latest work to a collector from Toronto.

Simon Published in New American Paintings
Based in Boston, The Open Studios Press holds juried competitions for six
geographic regions in the U.S. The winners from each region have 3 pieces of
work, a resume and an artist statement published in a book called New American
Paintings, which is distributed nationally. Last October Don entered and was
accepted into the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Edition (the Mid-Atlantic Region consisting
of DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, and WV).
The Juror was Alex Baker, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Pennsylvania Academy
of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. The book will be appearing in April in the Art
Magazine section of a Borders or a Barnes & Noble or most likely any bookstore
across the US with a healthy selection of art magazines. To preview the issue or

Simon Wins Purchase Award from Jersey City Museum
Last fall, Don entered "Cows on Garbage 2" into a juried competition at the
Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, NJ. The Annual Competition, called
'Works On Paper', drew 350 entries, with 63 pieces gaining acceptance into the
show. At the conclusion of the exhibition, curators from the Jersey City Museum
were invited to view all the work and select one piece for a Purchase Award.
The selected artist would be offered the award in exchange for donating the
piece to be included in the permanent collection of the Museum. "Cows on Garbage
2" was selected and Don gratefully accepted the award.
The piece was sent to the Museum and approved by the Board for acceptance into
the permanent collection.

Simon Wins Entry to SlowArt's Emerging Artists 2006 Show
Each year, Slow Art Productions, run by artist, publisher and gallery owner Tim
Slowinski, sponsors an international juried competition aimed at gaining
recognition for new artists. In December, Don was named one of their thirteen
Emerging Artists for 2006. As a result, he will be part of a group show at The
Limner Gallery in Phoenicia, NY (Catskills) opening April 6. Also, as part of
his award, he will be featured with the other winners on the gallery website,
and be incorporated into an e-mail campaign promoting the show to collectors,
curators, and galleries.
